Battle of the WET lubes

I met Ludmila from Wet at the ETO Show back in June. I didn’t know anything about WET lubes but I was delighted to find out the whole range is vegan! Ludmila gave me three different lubes to try out and I meant to review them a while back, but then life got in the way…

The three Wet lubes I’ll be reviewing are Wet Original, Wet Naturals-Beautifully Bare, and Wet Platinum. These lubes have different qualities that make them useful for different things so I’ve decided to compare the lubes. Hopefully that will make it easier to see which one suits your needs.

Wet lubes

Wet Original

Type: Water-based
Parabens: No
Glycerin: Yes
Thickness: A light gel
How long it lasts: Long-lasting for a water-based lube. Dries to a thin, slightly sticky coating on skin
Taste: Awful
Cleaning: Washes off easily with just water or wet wipes
Size: 30ml, perfect for overnight trips
Toy suitability: All sex toys
Best for: Great for all types of sex and sex toys. Wet Platinum might be better for really long sessions
Worst for: People prone to irritation. Using in water

Wet Naturals-Beautifully Bare

Type: Water-based
Parabens: No
Glycerin: No
Thickness: Thin and runny but easy to apply
How long it lasts: Long-lasting for a water-based lube but slightly less than Wet Original. Soaks into the skin with no evidence it was ever there
Taste: Neutral
Cleaning: Washes off easily with just water or wet wipes
Size: Just under 100ml, perfect for keeping in the bedside drawer but also not so huge that you couldn’t travel with it
Toy suitability: Suitable for use with all toys
Best for: People with sensitive skin and who are prone to irritation
Worst for: It’s good for all types of sex and sex toys but Wet Platinum might be better for anal play because it is so long-lasting. Using in water.

Wet Platinum

Type: Silicone-based
Parabens: No
Glycerin: No
Thickness: Runny and super slick
How long it lasts: Pretty much forever
Taste: Pretty inoffensive, fairly neutral
Cleaning: Water alone won’t clean it off. You definitely need soap
Size: 30ml, travel-sized but a little goes a long way
Toy suitability: Not suitable for use with silicone toys. I use it with metal and glass toys
Best for: Anal sex and using toys anally because it lasts such a long time. Massage. Using in water (just make sure it doesn’t come into contact with silicone sealant around the bath)
Worst for: Using with silicone toys and quick clean up. Also be careful because it can stain some materials (although I haven’t found this)

Which is my favourite?

I use both the Natural and Platinum Wet lubes but I use them for different things. I keep the Natural lube next to my bed as it’s a wonderful all-rounder. I like that I don’t have to worry about what my sex toys are made of and, because it soaks into skin as though it was never there, I don’t have to worry about clean up at all.

The Platinum gets used less often, but I like it for long anal sessions because I don’t have to reapply. Ever.

I am prone to irritation but the ingredients of both the Natural and Platinum Wet lubes cause me no issues.

Overall

I’m really happy to have been introduced to Wet lubes. I’m always looking for vegan lubes and knowing everything Wet lube makes is vegan is awesome.

I’m not very impressed with the Original because it contains glycerine and dries to be a bit sticky, but two out of three ain’t bad!
