Ten years after rape

Ten years ago, on 9th July 2006, I was raped. The experience shaped my life in hundreds of ways. As the tenth anniversary of the rape approaches, I feel like it is time to share some of what I have faced, learnt and overcome in the past ten years. I have decided to write ten posts. Some of these posts will be deeply personal, some will be more academic, but all are born of my own experiences.

I will add links to the titles below as I publish them

  1. If I pretend it didn’t happen…
  2. Promiscuity after rape
  3. The trial
  4. What is PTSD?
  5. Eight reasons I am to blame
  6. Revictimisation
  7. My body, rape, and recovery
  8. Memory in PTSD
  9. BDSM after rape
  10. Mourning and moving on
