Ten years ago, on 9th July 2006, I was raped. The experience shaped my life in hundreds of ways. As the tenth anniversary of the rape approaches, I feel like it is time to share some of what I have faced, learnt and overcome in the past ten years. I have decided to write ten posts. Some of these posts will be deeply personal, some will be more academic, but all are born of my own experiences.
I will add links to the titles below as I publish them
- If I pretend it didn’t happen…
- Promiscuity after rape
- The trial
- What is PTSD?
- Eight reasons I am to blame
- My body, rape, and recovery
- Memory in PTSD
- BDSM after rape
- Mourning and moving on
